The City of Hamilton will implement an upstream guns and gang initiative, with plans to maintain a safe environment for local youth by steering them away from pathways that lead to violent crime. The objective of the multi-year prevention/intervention project is to decrease gun and gang activity in the City of Hamilton.

-Complete Call for Proposal process to distribute money into community organizations that seek to establish prevention and intervention initiatives that respond to gun and gang violence.

Medium-Term Outcomes
Identified municipalities and Indigenous communities implement informed prevention and intervention initiatives to respond to gun and gang violence:
-Launch of new and innovative programs as well as an increase in coordination and access to multiple services through streamlined approach.

Long-Term Outcomes
Identified municipalities and Indigenous communities are equipped to address gun and gang violence through intervention and prevention initiatives:
-Increase in number of programs for identified target populations as well as increased participation in these programs and services.
