Description:

Create a youth group drop in space that includes extensive programming and supporting team that’s well equipped to deal with crisis. This will act as a “one stop shop” for youth to access services they may need and want to access in a youth positive space.

Expected Results:

Short-term expected results (1-2years): Identified municipalities and Indigenous communities have funding for prevention and intervention initiatives to address and respond to gun and gang violence:
· Increase of connection to primary care and preventative health care including birth control and sexually transmitted and blood borne infections.
· Increase in connection to harm reduction practices which will be implemented into programming and services.
· Increase in anti-gang prevention education which is currently nonexistent in Portage la Prairie.

Medium-term expected results (3 years): Identified municipalities and Indigenous communities implement informed prevention and intervention initiatives to respond to gun and gang violence:
· Increase in cultural awareness, activities, education and opportunities for youth.
· Increase of service connection and participation in programming.
· Increase of youth safety and protection.
· Increase of sexual exploitation prevention.
· Increase in accessible recreational opportunities for youth.
· Increase in connection to education and employment opportunities.

Long-term expected result (4+ years): Identified municipalities and Indigenous communities are equipped to address gun and gang violence through intervention and prevention initiatives. Percentage of recipients that indicate prevention and intervention activities will be sustained at the end of the BSCF funding:
· Decreased youth crime rates due to the number of youth involved in crime. RCMP partners can access information from their crime analysts.
· Decrease in youth victims of crime which can also be accessed through RCMP partners.
· Decrease in youth gang activity which will be done through anonymous youth surveys.
· Decrease in addictions and mental health issues reported by youth.
· Increase in graduation rates as youth will be kept engaged and supported.
· Increase in post-secondary training and education.
