The City of St. John’s will implement a multi-year prevention/intervention plan alongside multi-sectoral community partners to decrease risk factors and increase protective factors among participating high risk and vulnerable youth in the municipality.

Expected Results:

Short-Term Outcomes:
- Identified municipalities and Indigenous communities have funding for prevention and intervention initiatives to address and respond to gun and gang violence;
- Knowledge to fill gaps at the community level related to high-risk youth and gun and gang violence is developed;
- Three-year prevention/intervention plan outlining community-based prevention/intervention initiatives to be implemented in fiscal years 2023-24, 2024-25, and 2025-26 is developed and submitted to PS; and
- Participants (high-risk youth) are identified and recruited for the prevention/intervention initiatives to be implemented in fiscal years 2023-24, 2024-25, and 2025-26.

Medium-Term Outcomes:
- Identified municipalities and Indigenous communities implement informed prevention and intervention initiatives to respond to gun and gang violence;
- Community-based organizations have the funding to implement programming to decrease risk factors and increase protective factors in at-risk children, youth and their families;

Long-Term Outcomes:
- Identified municipalities and Indigenous communities are equipped to address gun and gang violence through intervention and prevention initiatives.
- Decrease in percentage of youth involved in gun and gang violence, according to police and front line worker data;
- Increase in sustained prevention, early intervention and intervention activities.
