Description:
“Empire Fighting Chance: The Guardians of Tomorrow” is a coordinated crime‑prevention initiative led by REACH Edmonton that supports vulnerable youth (9–17) and young adults (18–30). The project integrates two evidence‑informed models—Empire Fighting Chance and Guardians of Tomorrow—to provide a continuum of supports ranging from early intervention to transition‑to‑adulthood programming. Through culturally grounded partnerships, mentoring, boxing and martial arts programming, mental health supports, and life‑skills development, the initiative helps participants build resilience, reduce risk factors, and pursue positive, prosocial pathways.

Public Safety Canada

- Providing flexible in‑person and virtual participation options to reduce barriers.

Intermediate Outcomes: Utilization of more effective strategies to prevent and reduce crime.
-Achieving sustained behavioural improvements and reduced engagement in antisocial or violent behaviours through consistent mentoring, coaching, and culturally relevant supports that reinforce prosocial decision‑making, along with continued participation in skill‑building activities, mental‑health supports, and post‑program follow‑ups.
- Increasing stability in daily routines such as school, training, and employment by supporting goal‑setting, routine development, and ongoing coaching to build healthy habits.

Ultimate Outcomes: Reduced offending among targeted populations.
-Long‑term, culturally grounded prevention supports that address root causes of violence and crime.
-Continuous engagement strategies that help sustain positive behavioural changes.
