Grants and Contributions:
Short-term results:
1) Develop increased partnerships, practices, and services that operate with Indigenous-led and peer-led organizations;
2) Support the capacity, direction, and strength of the E Fry network to achieve their mandate and provide critical supports to criminalized women pre, during, and post incarceration;
3) Maintain peer-led services to support our network in reducing the recidivism rates of federally sentenced women and gender diverse people;
4) Increase programs and services that support successful community reintegration;
5) Support federally sentenced women and gender diverse people to gain understanding of their legal and human rights, improving their outcomes in prison and upon community reintegration;
6) Contribute to public awareness and inform policy direction related to criminalized women and gender diverse people.
Medium-term results:
1) Improve Public Understanding of the Correctional System and its Processes and promote fair, just, and effective institutions;
2) Reduce the alarming and sustained rates of incarceration of Indigenous women
3) Reach new audiences, increase public empathy, and inform the Canadian public about critical issues related to the Canadian prison system;
4) Increased community-led supports & innovative solutions that tackle the root causes of criminalization and support meaningful reintegration.
Long-term results:
1) Support the maintenance of a Canadian society where incarceration is limited, proportionate, and reintegrative;
2) Maintain programs and services that ensure low recidivism rates;
3) Provide continued National coordination and support to the E Fry Network, whose work builds strong, well-resourced communities for all;
4) Continue to deliver programs and services that support women and gender diverse people's abilities to meaningfully contribute to Canadian society and the Canadian economy post incarceration.
The Grants and Contributions Program to Voluntary Organizations (GCP VO) supports the development of public safety policies and delivery of services by providing funding to voluntary organizations to maintain a national structure and cover core operating expenses.
