Expected Results:

Immediate Outcomes: Over a 12-month period, the 7th Step Society of Canada will deliver peer-based reintegration services and facilitated programming to reduce recidivism and support safe community reintegration. Weekly peer support meetings will be offered in institutional and community settings, alongside one-on-one sponsorship and prerelease planning for individuals transitioning from custody. Structured programs will focus on accountability, leadership development, and pro-social skill building. National coordination will strengthen regional capacity, partnerships, and advocacy efforts.

Intermediate Outcomes: Over Years 2–4, the 7th Step Society of Canada will strengthen and expand its national peer-based reintegration model to reduce recidivism and support long-term community reintegration. The Society will deliver weekly peer support meetings in institutional and community settings, sponsorship, one-on-one peer support, prerelease planning, and consistent facilitated programs that build accountability, leadership, and pro-social skills. The work will emphasize program expansion, strengthened partnerships, public education, advocacy, and enhanced national coordination, including collaboration with Public Safety Canada and Correctional Service Canada, to embed lived-experience perspectives into reintegration policy and practice.

Long-term Outcomes: In Year 5, the 7th Step Society of Canada will consolidate progress from the previous four years and focus on sustainability, systems impact, and continuous improvement. Core services will continue nationwide, including weekly peer support meetings, sponsorship and one-on-one peer support, facilitated programs, and pre-release planning in partnership with correctional and community organizations. At the national level, the Society will provide leadership, governance, and coordination, and work closely with Public Safety Canada and Correctional Service Canada to embed lived-experience perspectives into reintegration policy and practice. Emphasis will be placed on multi-year funding, strong governance, and leadership development to ensure long-term viability and impact.
