Description:
This project will be coordinated by the AQBRS Training Advisor, a member of the Board of Directors, and supported by two groups of AQBRS trainers and external experts in civil security and adult education. To achieve this goal, in the first place, a targeted training program and a related toolkit will be developed, program and tools tailored to the specific needs of ground search and rescue volunteers to enable them to respond to situations, situations and emergency. To facilitate the implementation of this program and its sustainability. the project will also include the development of a training of trainers and the holding of two provincial training workshops for this group within the AQBRS. Once the training of trainers is completed, the training program will be delivered directly to AQBRS Ground R & S teams through three regional workshops. Finally, following these various activities. the toolkit will be enhanced, finalized and distributed within the Association and beyond to encourage continuing education in this area and sustainability of the initial project.

Immediate Outcomes: By the end of 2019: The training plan and materials for the train-the-trainers workshop will be ready for delivery to the AQBRS trainers targeted by the project. Proposed content for the toolkit will be validated. The online module on disaster preparedness will have been developed and tested as a pilot project. Intermediate Outcomes: In May 2020, the 30 AQRBS trainers will have the capacity to deliver emergency response, both in terms of content and approaches based on the principles of adult education. By December 2020, the 90 AQBRS trainers will have the ability to safely and effectively respond to emergency disaster response contexts. 90 AQRBS members will have the capacity and availability during emergency situations. Long-term results: To ensure the sustainability of the project following the end of the project in March2021, the AQBRS trainers will have in hand a tool kit allowing them to extend the training program in intervention in situations of members of their team (current and future) who were unable to participate in the workshops organized as part of the project. AQBRS member groups will be able to sign agreements with their municipalities to intervene in emergency situations and collaborate with them in preparation, response and recovery. Additional human resources in the form of structured volunteer groups will be available in Quebec municipalities to respond to emergency situations that are increasing in frequency.

Search and Rescue New Initiatives Fund (SAR NIF)
Program Purpose:

The SAR New Initiatives Fund (SAR NIF), was established by the federal government in 1988, and is managed by Public Safety Canada (PS), in partnership with other federal, provincial and territorial SAR organizations.

SAR NIF provides annual funding for projects that will improve the National Search and Rescue Program. SAR NIF projects must address at least one of the National SAR Program Annual Priorities.
