Grants and Contributions:
Communities have the capacity to respond to gun and gang violence; informed initiatives to respond to gun and gang violence are implemented across Canada; and gun and gang violence is reduced thus contributing to a safe and resilient Canada.
The purpose of this amendment is to increase year 2 funding amount by $2,056,953 to $4,684,258 to fulfill Alberta's re-profile request; to extend the project duration from 2 to 5 years which includes an increase of $24,678,548; to increase the overall budget by a total of $26,735,501; to update the project activities to include year 3 to 5 activities.
The program purpose is to support law enforcement and intervention initiatives at the provincial/territorial, municipal and community levels by providing funding to provincial and territorial governments to support police services and other organizations in enhancing efforts to prevent, disrupt and combat gun and gang violence, and increase awareness and understanding of related issues.
