Description:
The Canadian Red Cross will increase its readiness to respond to urgent needs stemming from an expected resurgence of the pandemic (second wave) by building capacity in the areas of testing and outbreak crisis management.

Expected Results:
This project seeks to increase the CRC’s readiness capacity to support Provinces, Territories and areas of federal jurisdiction by enhancing the CRC’s ability to rapidly respond. Under Stream 1, to support surge testing capacity through the development of COVID-19 Testing Assistance Response Teams (CTARTS), the CRC is expected to build capacity to surge up to 10 teams of 40 members simultaneously for periods of 2-4 weeks in duration, with an activation window of 24-72 hours.

Program Purpose:
The objective of the Program is to enable the Canadian Red Cross (CRC) to support Canadians’ needs stemming from COVID-19, floods and wildfires.
Through the provision of funding to the CRC under this program, the CRC will have the resources to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on Canadians as well as that of floods and wildfires.
