Description:
The pilot project will implement a shared Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) function for Manitoba post-secondary institutions. The project will be managed by MRnet in partnership with three Manitoba Universities (University of Winnipeg, Brandon University and Université de Saint Boniface). By providing a shared CISO function for smaller post-secondary institutions who do not have the resources to staff a full time CISO, the project will support the adoption of new technologies and tools with a view toward developing more secure and resilient systems.

Expected Results:
The project will result in standard approaches to cyber security detection and mitigation, increased awareness of cyber threats, allocation of appropriate resources to deal with the threat landscape as well as enhanced cyber security capabilities and knowledge transfer in the Manitoba post-secondary community. The federated cooperative governance model will provide effective project leadership and management and is a deliverable that could be used in other venues.
