Description:
The Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies (CAEFS) will implement a research project to learn from local member Elizabeth Fry Societies that operate Community Residential Facilities (CRFs), as well as from housing and transitional supports that operate outside of the CRF model. The research will focus on the experience of service-providers within the CAEFS network and of the women and gender diverse people who were mandated to CRFs during COVID-19 and will test promising practices used by local Societies and others to serve and support their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The expected outcomes for this project include the following:

Immediate Outcomes: Identification of innovative COVID-19 responses in CRFs as well as barriers and gaps in service delivery.

Intermediate Outcomes: Ability for CRFs to better align their services to support reintegration goals for women and gender diverse people exiting prisons.

Ultimate Outcome: Safer communities in Canada.
