Description:
John Howard Society of Canada (JHSC) will engage with JHS Ontario to conduct the survey of CRFs which will be used to determine needs and appropriate technological solutions and develop communications tools to promote new system to prisoners. JHSC will use the services of a JHS Kingston case worker who would facilitate communication between prisoners and other JHS affiliates. The caseworker would meet with prisoners and assist them to connect virtually with CRF’s to create the best reintegration strategy possible.

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes for this project include the following:

Immediate Outcome: An understanding of the challenges for CRFs and the impacts to service delivery during COVID-19.

Intermediate Outcome: Prisoners will be able to have face to face contact with JHS Kingston and/or other JHS affiliates which will enable CRFs to better align their services to support reintegration goals.

Ultimate Outcome: Connecting prisoners to community supports during pandemic situations will contribute to the development of a safer, more secure, and more resilient Canadian society.

Immediate Outcomes: Identification of innovative COVID-19 responses in CRFs as well as barriers and gaps in service delivery.

Intermediate Outcomes: Ability for CRFs to better align their services.
