Supplement to a multi-year project

Recipient's Legal Name:
Assaut Sexuel Secours (Val-d'Or) Inc.
Program:
Women's Program
Program Purpose:

This 36-month project will improve the ability of community service providers in Vallée-de-l'Or, Abitibi, to prevent sexual violence against women. The project will identify the institutional barriers that limit the ability of stakeholders to respond to the needs of victims of sexual violence who are living in poverty, as well as the specific needs of Aboriginal women living on the Lac-Simon and Kitcisakik reserves. The creation of a local roundtable on violence against women will provide a forum for disseminating and testing promising practices and will support collaboration between key stakeholders representing community services and the Aboriginal community. A formal framework for sharing project learnings and facilitate networking between stakeholders will be developed. Supplement: A first supplement was provided to strengthen the partnerships under development and enable the creation of an action plan for crisis intervention, the establishment and evaluation of a service continuum between providers, and dissemination of best practices targeting aboriginal women. A second supplement was also provided to take into account a particularly intense level of effort required to implement project activities and face obstacles, due to a difficult context in this region regarding sexual assaults.
