Description:
This 19-month project will honour the lives and legacies of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and LGBTQ2S individuals and increase awareness about missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls and LGBTQ2S individuals (MMIWG). Project activities will include: facilitation of MMIWG events for families, which will include culture, land-based activities, art and experiential and professional supports. These events will be geared towards communities with comparatively less resources, to maximize family participation and enable full realization of family vision for the creation of a memorial statue. Communities involved in this project will include: Sapotawayek Cree Nation, O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation, Gillam (inclusive of: Tataskewyak Cree Nation, Split Lake Cree Nation and Fox Lake Cree Nation) and Bunibonibee Cree Nation.
