This 36-month project will address organizational capacity needs to allow Child Care Now (Childcare Advocacy Association of Canada) to continue promoting social and systemic change towards gender equality. The focus of the project will be the establishment of child care coalitions and networks in regions in Canada that currently lack them so as to be in a better position to advocate for the kind of evidence-based public child care policy measures that will lead to enhanced economic security for women. Activities will include an analysis and mapping of the current state of child care advocacy in Canada to identify the strategic targets and priorities of the project; and the development of tools, mechanisms, training, and other resources to support new and existing networks, partnerships and coalitions.
