Description:
This 31-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. Mouvement Ontarien des Femmes Immigrantes Francophones (MOFIF) will achieve this by (1) equipping and engaging community and para-public organizations in the fight for equity and the importance of including Francophone immigrant girls and women; (2) producing a white paper "L'équité, l'importance d'inclure les filles et femmes immigrantes francophones"; (3) testing a civic and political engagement program specific to Francophone immigrant girls and women and developing its final framework; and (4) breaking the isolation of Francophone immigrant women entering politics. At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by Advancing inclusive policies and practices; increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change; and Supporting positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power to support women’s equality. As part of this project, partner organizations working with Francophone immigrant girls and women and school boards will be involved to share their expertise and promote the project to target populations. MOFIF will establish other relevant partnerships during the implementation of the project to ensure its success and help women overcome the current impacts of COVID-19.

The purpose of the Women’s Program is to advance equality for women in Canada by working to address or remove systemic barriers impeding women’s progress and advancement. The WP supports the Government of Canada’s goal of advancing gender equality in Canada. It is consistent with Government of Canada priorities related to economic prosperity, and supports Canada’s international commitments related to gender equality.
