Agreement Date:

Description:
This 30-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. Woman Abuse Council of Toronto (WomanACT) will achieve this by engaging survivors in project planning and implementation, advancing policies to promote survivors right to remain in their own homes, addressing discriminatory policies, and shifting the gender norms and attitudes so they will support women to safely stay in their own home. At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices, encouraging more equitable and effective sharing of resources, and addressing persistent harmful gender norms and attitudes to support women’s equality. The organization regularly works with partners to advance promising practices and address systemic issues. The project will partner with a range of networks, stakeholders, and community organizations (including anti-violence against women organizations). Partnerships with other levels of government will be a key priority during the project; the organization will explore alignment with municipal and provincial priorities that could support the Safe at Home model.
