This 29-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. Small Scale Food Processor Association will achieve this by engaging food policy organizations and foundations that fund food initiatives across Canada to create a national voice for women small scale food processors, analyzing and documenting current policy barriers impacting women in this industry, developing resources to build on an ecosystem model to support female small scale food processors, and by creating policy briefs with recommendations to advocate for change with provincial and federal ministries related to food systems and women’s economic security in British Columbia, Nova Scotia and Ontario. At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change, encouraging more equitable and effective sharing of resources, and by advancing for inclusive policies and practices to support women’s equality.
