Agreement Date:
Nov 17, 2021 - Mar 31, 2024
Description:
This 28-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. The Centre of Excellence for Women’s Health (CEWH) Society will achieve this by bringing together experts in communications, violence prevention, masculinities and Indigenous knowledge to co-develop bilingual training and communications products to advance an intersectional gender transformative (GT) approach to violence prevention and build a resource rich legacy website. The organization will seek consensus among partners on GT messaging for violence against women (VAW) and gender-based violence (GBV) and work to build the capacity of various stakeholders to communicate effectively about and act on the drivers of VAW and GBV. The resources produced will be applicable to organizations, medias, men and boys, women and girls, and gender diverse communities to critically address negative and unhealthy aspects of masculinity and femininity that may perpetuate VAW and GBV. At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices, encouraging more equitable and effective sharing of resources, increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change, and addressing persistent harmful gender norms and all to support women’s equality. As part of the project, the organization will engage a variety of partners across the country, namely Argyle Communications, Informed Opinions, Galvanizing Equity, Trauma at the Root: Exploring Paths to Healing, Canadian Partnership for Women and Children’s Health, and medias, as well as OurWatch, located in Australia.
