Description:
This 29-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19 through systemic change. GBV Resource Collective Inc. will achieve this by developing and implementing an accredited “GBV Trauma-Informed Care Training” program, and "The GBV Bridge" - a National Gender-Based Violence database and intake/ triage process that will improve the identification of root causes and individual needs of those impacted by GBV. The GBV Resource Collective Inc. will establish a national resource database to centralize access to all GBV agencies, shelters, organizations, and social ministries for individuals in need of support and services, eliminating current sector silos. A community-based approach and prevention-based initiatives will be used to address intersectional barriers to equality for diverse women (e.g., anti-oppression and anti-racism initiatives). The project will promote reconciliation through distinction-based approaches to ensure Indigenous women's and girls' safety, economic security, and leadership. At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices, encouraging more equitable and effective sharing of resources, increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change, and addressing persistent and harmful gender norms and attitudes to end gender-based violence and to support women's equality. GBV Resource Collective Inc. will develop and implement an accredited training program to improve sector trauma-informed intake and triage. The project will improve trauma-informed care sector practices, service collaboration and support for GBV service providers, through improved creation and implementation of solution-focused programs within the GBA+. GBV Resource Collective Inc. will partner and collaborate with organizations across Canada in the GBV sector. Numerous partners such as psychology services, victim services, immigrant services and newcomer centers are involved in the project. The organization will establish the foundation with the future ability to implement measurable outcomes for services and support provided to gender-based violence victims and women affected by COVID-19, within the organization’s area and in rural/remote communities to ensure sustainable and effective change.
