This 30-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. 11399527 Canada Society operating under the name of Future Black Female (FBF) - will achieve this by developing tools and resources to provide one-on-one career counselling and gather information on the barriers that Black women face in the labour market; organizing a regional educator and employer-focused career fair that is culturally relevant and responsive to the unique challenges experienced by Black women; engaging in ongoing collaborations with various community and corporate organizations to effectively mitigate the barriers to the economic security and prosperity of Black women in Ontario and creating and advocating for equitable and inclusive opportunities for Black women in the labour force, especially in recession proof career paths. At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices; increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change; encouraging more equitable and effective sharing of resources and supporting positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power to support women’s equality. This project will work with partners, including Family and Children's Services Niagara, other Children's Aid Societies, Pathstone Mental Health, Colleges and Universities, private companies and the corporate sector across Ontario to improve collaboration, lead dissemination and increase uptake of system transformation policy and programs recommendations for equitable and inclusive opportunities for Black women in the labour force.
