Agreement Number:

Agreement Value:

Agreement Date:
Jan 24, 2022 - Mar 31, 2024
Description:
This 25-month project will foster a feminist response and recovery in the context of the current impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic through systemic change. To achieve this, the Alliance des femmes de la francophonie canadienne (AFFC) will mobilize its members to put in place a national strategy and an action plan that will support the recognition of women’s and girls’ right to be respected. The AFFC and its partners will launch a national social media awareness campaign to counter gender-based violence in Francophone and Acadian communities. A large part of this campaign will be driven by ambassadors who will testify to the realities and increased needs of Canadian women living in official language minority communities. The AFFC will develop tools and resources for its network partners who help vulnerable women, particularly women living in remote areas, and will share with them good practices and initiatives that can be adapted to their contexts. Women and girls who are survivors of violence will share their experiences through consultations, thus helping to make a positive difference for themselves and their peers. A survey will then be conducted to evaluate the activities implemented, and the results will be shared online with the partners. At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to the removal of systemic barriers by promoting a more efficient and equitable sharing of resources, by increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change, and by changing persistent prejudicial gender norms and attitudes to support equality for women.
