Agreement Date:

Description:
This 28-month project will support a feminist response to and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19 through systemic changes. To achieve this, the Groupe Femmes, Politique et Démocratie (GFPD) intends to 1) create joint committees on equality and on equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in any interested municipalities and regional county municipalities (RCMs) within the four target regions (Estrie, Lanaudière, Chaudière-Appalaches, and Centre du Québec) and 2) advise these authorities in designing and adopting policies on equality using the Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA Plus) approach. Target policy areas include governance and hiring, public services and inclusive communication, and EDI action plans. Once these policies have been developed and adopted, the GFPD intends to disseminate them widely and set up committees for monitoring their implementation to promote lasting change in women’s and girls’ access to leadership and decision-making roles, especially for underrepresented women. By the end of the project, the organization aims to have helped remove systemic barriers by promoting inclusive policies and practices; by enabling more fair and efficient resource sharing; by enhancing networks for collaboration to expedite systemic changes; by addressing harmful norms and attitudes that persist on gender; and by supporting a positive distribution of power, the right to speak, and decision-making authority in support of women’s equality.
