Description:
This 25-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19 through systemic change. Women’s Shelters Canada will achieve this by working to reduce the level of technology-facilitated violence experienced by Canadian women and create a safer online environment for them. Adjustments will be made by private service providers to their policies and practices and adapted and translated training and tools for frontline workers, including a culturally based Indigenous component, will be developed and delivered regionally across Canada. As well, Women’s Shelters Canada will work with a technology provider to implement tech safety corporate practices within their organization, such as a trauma-informed Safe Team and cyber safety training.
At the end of the project Women’s Shelters Canada will have contributed to reducing systemic barriers by providing frontline workers with the knowledge and tools to help women recognize and practice cyber safety, and by creating change in a technology provider’s policies and practices.
