Description:
Through this 16-month project, Divergenres will develop community-informed solutions to address the main barriers and gaps faced by 2SLGBTQI+ communities. Actions that will be taken to achieve this include equipping healthcare professionals to address the needs of trans people seeking to medically transition with training and career mentoring for healthcare professionals providing care to one or more trans people. An informational tool for supporting trans people in navigating healthcare services will be developed and shared in electronic and paper formats. The project will also provide tools for community organizations by training workers on providing effective guidance to trans people about healthcare and by creating a short reference guide on trans health for frontline community organizations.

The purpose of ESSOGIE program is to advance social, political and economic equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.

Advancement towards a greater understanding of the intersection of sex and gender with other identity factors that include race, national and ethnic origin, Indigenous origin or identity, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic condition, place of residence and disability are encouraged under the Program.
