Description:
Through this 41-month project, Victoria Native Friendship Centre (VNFC) will increase its ability to address gender-based violence against Indigenous women, girls, or 2SLGBTQQIA+ people. This will be achieved by conducting a needs assessment and building networks and partnerships to develop and implement a data management system. An evaluation will be conducted to measure the performance of VNFC’s programs and services. This project will work collaboratively with Ursa Creative and the University of Victoria to develop, build, train, and implement a data system that will best fit the needs of clients, staff, and the organization. By the end of the project, VNFC will have strengthened their capacity to address GBV against Indigenous women, girls, or 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, because they will collect a more comprehensive data with a focus on urban Indigenous peoples.

Advancement towards a greater understanding of the intersection of sex and gender with other identity factors that include race, national and ethnic origin, Indigenous origin or identity, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic condition, place of residence and disability are encouraged under the Program.
