Description:
This 30-month project will develop and implement a consent campaign and a network of youth advocates comprised of women and men to address the root causes of gender-based violence.
on university campuses. We Worthy Women will achieve this by engaging with students and universities to identify barriers and needs, by working with the athletic community in ending sexual and gender-based violence, and by developing a network of youth advocates to collaborate during and beyond the project.
At the end of the project, the organization will have developed a promising practice which will strengthen a culture of consent on Atlantic Canadian university campuses, increase the number of men involved in ending sexual violence on campus, and create a cross-provincial network of students to mobilize resources and drive real change.
Partners involved come from diverse areas of expertise and will advise and support We Worthy Women at all stages of the project. New/Mode, an activism platform, will be utilized to assist the organization in sharing information collected from the consent campaign, and in calling for action and support from institutions around sexual violence prevention at Atlantic Canadian universities.
The supplemental funding will be used to offer additional workshops and event speakers as part of their consent campaign to create a productive dialogue around consent and work to challenge harmful gender norms on campus.

Gender-Based Violence Program
Program Purpose:
The purpose of the GBV Program is to strengthen the GBV sector to address gaps in supports for two groups of survivors: 1) Indigenous women and their communities, and 2) underserved populations (including women living with a disability, non-status/refugee /immigrant women, LGBTQ2S, gender non-conforming people and ethno-cultural women) in Canada. The Program provides grant and contribution funding to Canadian organizations to improve supports to help create long-term, comprehensive solutions at the national, regional, and local levels.
