This 59-month project will address organizational capacity needs to allow the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic to continue promoting social and systemic change towards gender equality. Organizational capacity will be enhanced through the development of a sustainable and comprehensive fundraising strategy that will enable the organization to increase their sources of secure, predictable, unrestricted funding. This will allow the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic to meet the increase in demand for their services, cover administrative costs, and enable their continued leadership in antiviolence advocacy and legal reform initiatives, as Canada’s only gender-based violence legal clinic. Additional funds approved in 2020 will cover the costs of hiring a support position for the fundraising department. The 2023 supplemental funding will be used to train staff on Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI), develop a Strategic Planning that integrates considerations of the post-COVID reality, hybrid workplace, and principles of EDI, and update organizational IT and communications policies to reflect a changing hybrid workplace reality.

The purpose of the Women’s Program is to advance equality for women in Canada by working to address or remove systemic barriers impeding women’s progress and advancement. The WP supports the Government of Canada’s goal of advancing gender equality in Canada. It is consistent with Government of Canada priorities related to economic prosperity, and supports Canada’s international commitments related to gender equality.
