AMAL: Towards a Sustainable Future

This 58-month project will address organizational capacity needs to allow the Coalition of Muslim Women of Kitchener-Waterloo (CMW) to continue promoting social and systemic change towards gender equality. Organizational capacity will be enhanced through the strengthening of board governance policies and procedures, the development of a sustainable financial model, partnership development, networking, and collaboration, the establishment of a strategic plan, and the creation of an improved advocacy strategy. The organization received supplemental funding during the Covid-19 pandemic to hire external specialists to perform a community needs assessment, assist with the development of a long-term financial plan and technical support to roll out a full technology plan for staff. The supplemental funding received during 2023 will permit the organization to adapt and evaluate their human resources management policies and results-based management tools according to a gender-based analysis and cultural inclusivity lens.

The purpose of the Women’s Program is to advance equality for women in Canada by working to address or remove systemic barriers impeding women’s progress and advancement. The WP supports the Government of Canada’s goal of advancing gender equality in Canada. It is consistent with Government of Canada priorities related to economic prosperity, and supports Canada’s international commitments related to gender equality.
