Description:
This 44-month project will address organizational capacity needs to allow the Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women’s Empowerment (J.A.C.) to continue promoting social and systemic change towards gender equality for girls and young women. Key capacity building activities will include: the development and implementation of a financial sustainability plan, with a focus on a funding and fundraising diversification strategy; programmatic planning and systems updates to integrate and mainstream results-based management processes; strengthening Board governance; and the development of new partnerships, for strengthened organizational sustainability. The supplement funding will enable J.A.C to further strengthen its financial health with the development of a social enterprise model informed by results-based management processes developed in the earlier phase of the project. Furthermore, J.A.C will increase its organizational capacity to affect change by evaluating its current advocacy activities to inform the development and implementation of an improved advocacy strategy.

The purpose of the Women’s Program is to advance equality for women in Canada by working to address or remove systemic barriers impeding women’s progress and advancement. The WP supports the Government of Canada’s goal of advancing gender equality in Canada. It is consistent with Government of Canada priorities related to economic prosperity, and supports Canada’s international commitments related to gender equality.
