Description:
Through this 11-month project, the Wabanaki Two Spirit Alliance will develop community-informed solutions to key barriers and gaps facing 2SLGBTQ+ communities. This will be achieved by organizing and holding a Two-Spirit and Indigenous LGBTQQIA+ national gathering for cultural connection and support, and by creating a Youth Council to build leadership skills and cultural identity. Furthermore, the organization will remove barriers to 2S equality through a needs assessment, community consultations, intergenerational knowledge sharing practices and Elder engagement. At the end of the project, Wabanaki Two Spirit Alliance will have identified best practices for trauma-informed and resilience focused 2SLGBTQ+ programming.

The purpose of ESSOGIE program is to advance social, political and economic equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.

Advancement towards a greater understanding of the intersection of sex and gender with other identity factors that include race, national and ethnic origin, Indigenous origin or identity, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic condition, place of residence and disability are encouraged under the Program.
