Description:

Through this 9-month project, the Labrador Friendship Centre will increase its ability to prevent or address gender-based violence against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ people. This will be achieved through the development and implementation of a 5-year strategic plan that will address and align the organization’s objectives, mission, and purpose with an accurate representation of the needs of the community. By the end of the project, Labrador Friendship Centre will have increased the centre’s capacity to provide safe, accessible, and appropriate programs, services, and accommodations to Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ people.

The purpose of ESSOGIE program is to advance social, political and economic equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.

Advancement towards a greater understanding of the intersection of sex and gender with other identity factors that include race, national and ethnic origin, Indigenous origin or identity, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic condition, place of residence and disability are encouraged under the Program.
