Description:

Through this 30-month project, the Mothers Matter Centre will scale their Men Like Me violence campaign with the help of White Ribbon to prevent GBV and strengthen the GBV sector. It will scale this initiative to immigrant and refugee men and boys to address isolation, foster positive family relationships and masculinities, and also destigmatize access to available support services. To do so, the project will: capture the perspectives of refugee and newcomer men and boys; and design, develop and deliver the Men Like Me program, its training sessions, resource guides and other materials for the participants to use. An external evaluator will measure and assess the project and its outcomes. The approach and takeaways will then be shared through national webinars so that the promising practice may replicated or expanded upon.

Program Purpose:

The purpose of the GBV Program is to strengthen the GBV sector to address gaps in supports for two groups of survivors: 1) Indigenous women and their communities, and 2) underserved populations (including women living with a disability, non-status/refugee /immigrant women, LGBTQ2S, gender non-conforming people and ethno-cultural women) in Canada. The Program provides grant and contribution funding to Canadian organizations to improve supports to help create long-term, comprehensive solutions at the national, regional, and local levels.
