Agreement Date:

Description:
This 29-month project will develop and lay the foundation for piloting a framework for wraparound service delivery that is centered around the needs of marginalized survivors of sexual violence with intersecting identities, to address the root causes of gender-based violence (GBV) and support GBV survivors in the new post-COVID context. The Sexual Assault Centre Kingston will achieve this by conducting a comprehensive environmental and social scan to identify gaps, create a map of needs, and identify existing services; establishing and engaging a community of practice in the Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington (KFL&A) area; developing, laying the foundation for piloting, and evaluating a framework for wraparound service delivery for survivors with intersecting identities in KFL&A; and, disseminating the evidence-based framework and promising practices findings through a skills-based symposium for community agencies and practitioners.
At the end of the project, the Sexual Assault Centre Kingston will have developed promising practices that increased networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change, supported positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power, advanced inclusive policies and practices, and encouraged a more equitable and effective sharing of resources, to support survivors of sexual violence.
This project will partner with community-based organizations, GBV-service organizations, and survivors with lived experience. The Ontario Coalition of Rape Crisis Centres (OCRCC), the Kingston and Frontenac Anti-Violence Coordinating Committee (KFACC), and Immigrant Services Kingston & Area (ISKA), will be engaged to support the promising practice’s design and implementation, while, Queen’s University, Addictions and Mental Health Services (AMHS), and other local and provincial partners will be engaged to support knowledge dissemination. The survivor-centered framework for wraparound services will address the systemic barriers to gender equality experienced by marginalized survivors of sexual violence with intersecting identities, with a focus on including the experiences of Black and racialized, non-status, immigrant, and refugee women, as well as non-binary and gender diverse people.

Program Purpose:
The purpose of the GBV Program is to strengthen the GBV sector to address gaps in supports for two groups of survivors: 1) Indigenous women and their communities, and 2) underserved populations (including women living with a disability, non-status/refugee /immigrant women, LGBTQ2S, gender non-conforming people and ethno-cultural women) in Canada. The Program provides grant and contribution funding to Canadian organizations to improve supports to help create long-term, comprehensive solutions at the national, regional, and local levels.
