Agreement Date:
Mar 1, 2024 - Mar 31, 2026
Description:
Through this 25-month project, Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada will develop and deliver a monthly podcast across Inuit Nunangat and the rest of Canada, featuring topics around gender equality and its unique challenges as it relates to improving economic participation, increasing leadership in various sectors, helping prevent and eliminate gender-based violence, and improving overall mental well-being. The Inuit specific, youth-led, gender equality podcast will foster essential conversations around the empowerment of Inuit women on paving the way for equal opportunities. Each episode will be structured around an interview with an Inuk woman and/or subject matter expert, touching on the root causes of inequality in Inuit society. The preliminary conversations and surveys which took place in the initial Indigenous Youth project are forming the more detailed topics of engagement for this scale-up project. By building on the previous project’s work, Pauktuutit will ensure a sustainable approach to violence reduction and utilize their Inuit-specific GBA+ lens in all aspects. Pauktuutit will conduct an external evaluation to develop a project evaluation framework focused on the project implementation process and outcomes achieved over the project’s lifespan. It will provide Pauktuutit and partners with valuable information and insights about the project development process, efficacies, and lessons learned. In the final year, Pauktuutit will host a National Engagement Session to offer an in-person forum for the gender equality movement to produce concrete information to promote the mission of building better Inuit-specific knowledge, research and innovative practices and influence GBV-related policy design and implementation. Pauktuutit will attend the Gender Equality Summit hosted by Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and CanWACH to present the project, its findings, and lessons learned to the national audience.
