Description:
Through this 31-month project, OCTEVAW will help advance representation in leadership and decision-making roles through systemic change. Specifically, the project will address systemic barriers within municipal policies and practices by piloting a mentorship program to support Black, Indigenous and Racialized women to fully participate in policy change initiatives that advance gender equity for racialized survivors of gender-based violence. This will be done by building the capacity of Black, Indigenous and Racialized GBV advocates through mentorship; hosting an annual convening “GBV Policy Symposium” and creating cross- cultural partnerships to create new policies and practices at the municipal level that advance gender equity for racialized survivors. An external evaluator will measure and assess the impact of the systemic change project.
