Building Capacity and Action for the National Council of Women of Canada

This 20-month capacity-building project will undertake a review of the way in which the National Council of Women of Canada serves all Canadians today and in the future, while remaining true to its values and principles. The project will develop a 5-year strategic plan, focusing on the sustainability of the organization and ensuring its membership is open, accessible, and responsive to the needs of those it serves. The project will hire a consultant to undertake key activities, including capacity building, strategic planning, communications and governance, thereby strengthening the organization. The plan will include an environmental scan and GBA Plus analysis of the sector prior to the development and approval of the strategic plan and related action plans for implementation. Furthermore, a membership plan and strategy will be developed to support membership growth and organizational responsiveness to the needs of its membership, including GBA Plus, undertaking a SWAT analysis, and preparing action plans to implement the strategic plan.

The purpose of the Women’s Program is to advance equality for women in Canada by working to address or remove systemic barriers impeding women’s progress and advancement. The WP supports the Government of Canada’s goal of advancing gender equality in Canada. It is consistent with Government of Canada priorities related to economic prosperity, and supports Canada’s international commitments related to gender equality.
