Description:
Through this 34 month systemic change project, the In Motion Network will help advance representation in leadership and decision-making roles through systemic change. Specifically, the project will address systemic barriers within women’s representation in coaching and officiating positions across the Alberta sport system. The organization will use the principles of community-based research to develop a diverse women-led community who will identify and address long standing attitudes, policies, and practices that sustain exclusive (and at times harmful) sporting environments. The project will work to actively engage, centre, and affirm women with intersecting identities, not only as means of mobilizing diverse insights and lived experiences, but also to use these insights and experiences to co-create new transformational strategies, policies, and resources intended to increase the number of women in coaching and officiating positions and ensure diverse women are included in future decision-making processes. An external evaluator will measure and assess the impact of the systemic change project.
