Through this 18-month project, North Point Douglas Women’s Centre (NPDWC) will build its capacity to advance gender equality by addressing the organization’s policies, procedures and practices. The project will include evaluating, developing and revising policies and bylaws to align with 2SLGBTQIA+ applicable legislation and acts on Indigenous women and Service users. The organization will establish a clear direction and outline attainable and measurable goals to collaborate with their staff and review resources to address safe space and accessibility in their community along with improving the understanding of the organization’s mission, vision, guiding values and principles and staff roles. Through community consultations, review and development of a 5-year strategic plan and updated financial policies and procedures NPDWC will obtain the tools and knowledge to help build their organizational credibility and financial capacity.

The purpose of the Women’s Program is to advance equality for women in Canada by working to address or remove systemic barriers impeding women’s progress and advancement. The WP supports the Government of Canada’s goal of advancing gender equality in Canada. It is consistent with Government of Canada priorities related to economic prosperity, and supports Canada’s international commitments related to gender equality.
