Description:
Through this 28-month project, York Pride Fest will address the needs and barriers to equality for 2SLGBTQI+ communities. This will be achieved through a partnership with Safety Experts to perform organizational assessments on organization(s) serving 2SLGBTQI+ community that will result in risk mitigation plans and provide resources to address and/or avoid hate motivated incidents. In parallel, the organization will meet with ethnic minority communities to dispel misinformation and misconceptions regarding 2SLGBTQI+ communities and work with York Regional Police to better support trans and non-binary victims. In collaboration with partners, the organization will organize a community forum to share information on available programming and resources, collect data, stories, lived experiences, and gather feedback from the stakeholders to improve services and program delivery.

The purpose of ESSOGIE program is to advance social, political and economic equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.
Advancement towards a greater understanding of the intersection of sex and gender with other identity factors that include race, national and ethnic origin, Indigenous origin or identity, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic condition, place of residence and disability are encouraged under the Program.
