Description:
Through this 17-month systemic change project, Black Women Film (BWF) will help advance the security, economic prosperity and representation of Black, non-binary and trans women producers in leadership and decision-making roles within the film and media industry, through systemic change. Specifically, the project will tackle the systemic barriers they face in order to improve their access to opportunities, and to safer and more inclusive working environments, at all stages of production. To achieve this, BWF will organize four mentored producer residencies in Halifax, Montreal, Winnipeg and Vancouver. The organization will lead a national participatory focus group study and evaluate the initiative throughout the project, using national charettes, video interviews and feedback gathering. An external evaluation will measure the impact of the systemic change project.
