Description:

Through this 29-month project, the Comité FrancoQueer de l’Ouest will address 2SLGBTQI+ communities’ needs and barriers to equality. To achieve this, the Comité will enhance representation and engagement of Francophone and Francophile 2SLGBTQI+ communities in governing bodies through mobilizing and educating community partners on social media and organizing consultation workshops to gauge needs and expectations. Primary activities include initiating a dialogue and fostering collaboration with Anglophone queer organizations on joint initiatives to promote representation and inclusion, creating a specialized training program focused on developing skills and governance/leadership, and creating a tool and best practices guide to develop a monitoring and evaluation system for measuring the impact of new member engagement. By the end of the project, the Comité FrancoQueer de l’Ouest will have increased the visibility and representation of Francophone 2SLGBTQI+ communities in local and regional governing bodies.

The purpose of ESSOGIE program is to advance social, political and economic equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.

Advancement towards a greater understanding of the intersection of sex and gender with other identity factors that include race, national and ethnic origin, Indigenous origin or identity, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic condition, place of residence and disability are encouraged under the Program.
