Description:
Through this 28-month project, Sunshine House Inc. will address the needs and barriers to equality for 2SLGBTQI+ communities by providing sectoral support in Manitoba to improve services and meet the needs of 2SLGBTQI+ populations experiencing houselessness and the intersections of race, substance abuse, poverty, and surviving in urban environments. This will be achieved by enhancing their Community Advisory Circle, completing a literature review and a full report on the 2SLGBTQI+ Housing Insecurity in Winnipeg as well as establishing a Community of Practice to develop and disseminate knowledge translation and educational materials with best practices and trainings. Sunshine House Inc will complete an impact assessment on their project to support future learning in their efforts to address the Winnipeg housing and support service sector gaps and provide guidance to service providers on how to work effectively with housing insecure 2SLGBTQI+ community members.

Advancement towards a greater understanding of the intersection of sex and gender with other identity factors that include race, national and ethnic origin, Indigenous origin or identity, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic condition, place of residence and disability are encouraged under the Program.
