Description:

Through this 28-month project, Northern BC Queer Connection Society will address the needs and barriers to equality for 2SLGBTQI+ communities by promoting the history of the 2SLGBTQI+ people in Northern British Columbia. This will be achieved through community engagement and consultations and by seeking out participants who agree to be filmed sharing their challenges and success with the 2SLGBTQI+ movement in rural and remote areas of Northern British Columbia. A short documentary will be created from the stories shared, and materials for a book will be complied.

The purpose of ESSOGIE program is to advance social, political and economic equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.

Advancement towards a greater understanding of the intersection of sex and gender with other identity factors that include race, national and ethnic origin, Indigenous origin or identity, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic condition, place of residence and disability are encouraged under the Program.
