Description:
Through this 13-month project, YWCA Halifax will further elaborate on existing promising practices to advance knowledge and supports for at-risk populations and survivors of human trafficking in Nova Scotia. This will be achieved by building on past and existing initiatives, such as the work led by the Trafficking and Exploitation Services System (TESS), to meet community needs when identifying and responding to cases of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Key activities include developing a work plan and evaluation framework that align with existing programs and provincial initiatives, developing and delivering training on topics identified as by the TESS community, translating key resources into French, launching a public awareness campaign, and advocating for a provincial declaration relating to human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of children and youth.

Program Purpose:

The purpose of the GBV Program is to strengthen the GBV sector to address gaps in supports for two groups of survivors: 1) Indigenous women and their communities, and 2) underserved populations (including women living with a disability, non-status/refugee /immigrant women, LGBTQ2S, gender non-conforming people and ethno-cultural women) in Canada. The Program provides grant and contribution funding to Canadian organizations to improve supports to help create long-term, comprehensive solutions at the national, regional, and local levels.
