Description:
This 16-month project will examine the role of feminism and gender equality in Acadian communities in Atlantic Canada. Through the coordination of a Women’s Summit within the larger World Acadian Congress, participants will be mobilized to address the socio-cultural and socio-economic factors that impede gender equality for women within Acadian, Francophone and official language minority communities. Panels, roundtables and a large scale plenary with various stakeholders will allow discussion around women’s civic, democratic and economic participation in rural, urban and remote communities, and inform recommendations and a framework for a Gender Equality Action Plan for Acadian communities in Atlantic Canada.
