Description:
This 10-week project will honour the lives and legacies of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and LGBTQ2S individuals and increase awareness about missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls and LGBTQ2S individuals. Project activities will include a Day of Healing conference, “Honouring our Life Givers” for the families of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and LGBTQ2S individuals to support their personal healing and create space for their voices. The conference will include a review of the MMIWG Commission’s Report; a presentation on Women’s Roles and Responsibilities; traditional Hoop Dancing; Healing Circles; as well as a commemorative painted tipi, for public installation, to support both continued education and healing.
