Description:
This 35-month project will influence workplace culture to increase women’s participation and advancement in skilled trades and apprenticeships affected by recruitment, workplace policies, practices, and behaviours in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia. Main activities include partnership development, needs assessment which includes research on promising practices, the identification and development of a strategy, piloting and evaluating a ‘code of practice’ for employers, and dissemination of knowledge.
The supplemental funding will be used to mitigate the impact that the COVID-19 restrictions have had on the project. Additional activities include, but are not limited to the following: accelerating the pilot phase for the Code of Practice to an online delivery, and in a shorter timeframe than originally scoped; and, increasing the workload performed by the contracted part-time leads in Ontario and Western Region to full-time capacity for Q4 of this fiscal year 2020-2021.
