Agreement Number:

Agreement Value:

Agreement Date:

Description:
This 27-month project will support a feminist response to and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19 through systemic changes. To achieve this, the Conseil québécois LGBT intends to raise awareness and advise Quebec municipalities in developing and implementing inclusive practices that allow LGBTQ2 women to access municipal services in a way that sufficiently responds to their realities. It will also offer municipalities all the tools they need to develop human resource policies that promote the recruitment and inclusion of LGBTQ2 women, and it will equip LGBTQ2 organizations to be able to establish firm, lasting partnerships with their municipalities by investing in the creation of a toolkit that is adaptable to the issues specific to particular regions.
By the end of the project, the organization aims to have helped remove systemic barriers by promoting inclusive policies and practices; by enabling more fair and efficient resource sharing; by enhancing networks for collaboration to expedite systemic change; by addressing harmful norms and attitudes that persist on gender; and by supporting a positive distribution of power, the right to speak, and decision-making authority in support of women’s equality.
More specifically, this project aims to support LGBTQ2 women’s involvement in municipal bodies and spaces, especially outside of major urban centres. To do this, the organization will collaborate with its partners to develop a best practices guide for municipalities, inspired by success stories from here and elsewhere, in order to encourage municipalities to remove systemic barriers discouraging LGBTQ2 women from participating fully in democratic, economic, and social life within their living environment.
