Wahpeton Dakota Developments LTD. will achieve this by researching Wahpeton Women’s traditional governance and leadership systems to better include women in leadership roles. Elders, women, community partners and stakeholders will be engaged to discuss the traditional governance as well as to reach a consensus within the community for how those traditions can best be implemented and supported. At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices, increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change, supporting positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power, and addressing persistent harmful gender norms and attitudes to support women’s equality.
